Review №2

Rendition (2007)

Cast : Reese Witherspoon ,Jake Gyllenhaal,Meryl Streep,Omar Metwally,Alan Arkin,Peter Sarsgaard,Aramis Knight.

Director : Gavin Hood

Genre : Drama film

Synopsis : After a terrorist bombing kills an American envoy in a foreign country. An investigation leads to an Egyptian who has been living in the United States for years and who is married to an American. He is apprehended when he's on his way home. The U.S. sends him to the country where the incident occurs for interrogation which includes torture. An American CIA operative observes the interrogation and is at odds whether to keep it going or to stop it. In the meantime, the man's wife raises hell to find him despite being pregnant but the person behind this refuses to help or give her any information.

Review : The Egyptian Anwar(Omar Metwally) , a suspect of terrorism, disappears during the flight from Africa to America. His American wife Isabella(Reese Witherspoon) and CIA analyst Douglas(Jake Gyllenhaal) try to rescue him from the U.S. secret prison where Anwar was subjected to severe torture, trying to "knock out" a confession.
The film gives a great room for maneuver. There is no well-articulated position. They are many of them and each is unique. You could even say that it is the individual points of view on the one separately taken problem that can not be considered without the connection with the relationships in world politics. Indeed, national security is a difficult thing.
The film seems to be quite real and it is quite possible, because for some people , it is the daily work to ensure the safety of the state, for others it is something completely unimaginable. So it is not clear how to justify or accuse anyone of the characters. They just need to be understood.
Acting makes us really understand the psychology of the characters that have been so generously created in the process of creating the film. To some extent, they all too typical, but should we expect from this film uniqueness or originality? Frankly speaking, it's hard to imagine what characters would have to do the in the current circumstances.
Music is chosen skillfully and flawlessly. Some songs I want to listen more and more.
Overall, I did not expect this film to be shocking . But all the same time it gives us to think about the victims and how they experienced great pain and sorrow.

Rendering: Week 12

The article "Carton Recycling: Don't Underestimate the Impact" was published on the website eponline.com on Dec 11, 2012.
The article carries a lot of comment on the situation that through the unified industry effort lead by the council, carton recycling recently reached a major milestone. Forty percent of U.S. households now have access to carton recycling -- that's approximately 46.7 million households. Compared with just three years ago, when household access stood at 18 percent, this is an increase of 122 percent. During the past three years, carton recycling access has been added to programs in Dallas, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Memphis, Denver, San Diego, and Los Angeles.
Analyzing the situation it's necessary to emphasize that the author told us that even the most budget-strapped cities and fiscally conservative corporations are recognizing the importance of being more sustainable. Recycling is no longer an optional service for communities to offer. What is optional, however, is how robust the program is and how impactful it truly can be. Here is often where true leadership is demonstrated. In the corporate world, businesses are recognizing that their stakeholders, including employees and investors, want to work and invest in a company that has sustainability goals and follows through on them.
In this connection it’s worthwhile mentioning that cartons are one of the most sustainable food and beverage packaging options in existence. When looking for ways to improve sustainability efforts in packaging, there is little the carton doesn't offer. It's made mainly with renewable resources, has a low-carbon footprint across its lifecycle, and is highly recyclable.
Speaking of this situation it is also interesting to note that the Carton Council is committed to building a sustainable infrastructure for carton recycling nationwide by working with stakeholders at each point of the recycling supply chain and carton lifecycle, from the recycling communities to material recovery facilities, brokers, paper mills, and others. Each entity has a role in elevating the prevalence of carton recycling and achieving great returns on post-consumer cartons.
In conclusion the author of the article expresses the view that compared to other areas of the world, such as Europe, the United States has been slow to climb on the carton recycling bandwagon. Carton recycling is a standard practice worldwide with more than 140 mills accepting post-consumer recycled cartons. Although carton recycling has been going on at small levels in the United States for more than two decades, we are still largely playing catch-up with the rest of the world: Only nine of those 140 mills are located in North America. When U.S. carton recycling access stood at just 18 percent in 2009, there was only one paper mill accepting cartons, but coordinated efforts by the Carton Council and industry stakeholders and leaders during the past three years have produced tremendous growth. However, there is still much farther to go.
As for me I think that we should join our efforts in order to help make a sustainable impact through carton recycling.

The Pelican Brief (1993)

Cast:
Julia Roberts, Denzel Washington, Sam Shepard, John Heard, William Atherton, John Lithgow, Stanley Tucci
Director:
Alan J. Pakula

Synopsis:
Two Supreme Court Justices have been killed and a law student Darby Shaw uncovers a conspiracy writing a brief about this murder , putting herself and others in danger. So she ask for help a newspaper reporter Gray Grantham.
Review:
The Pelican Brief is a legal crime thriller based on the novel of the same title by John Grisham.
Julia Roberts is a young lady in distress, she writes a brief, theorizing who was behind the murder of two Supreme Court justices.
Denzel Washington is the investigative reporter who sees some sense in her theory and decides to offer his help.
The Pelican Brief has the law student Darby Shaw who took part in an affair with Thomas Callahan.
She writes a theory about the murder of two Supreme Court justices, one of whom, Abraham Rosenberg, served as Callahan's mentor.
When Callahan shares this so-called "Pelican Brief" with Gavin Verheek, an FBI lawyer, the document goes to Fletcher Coal, who believes it could depose the current administration.
When Callahan is murdered and the President convinces the FBI not to investigate Darby's theory, the student has to go into hiding, stalked by assassin Khamel.
Her only hope of escaping Callahan's fate and proving her theory lies in Washington investigative reporter Gray Grantham, who's already had one confidential source back out of sharing information about the assassinations.
As for performance of the actors I was deeply impressed by the acting of Julia Roberts and Denzel Washington .
Their performance makes the film absorbing and entertaining from beginning to end.
I guess "The Pelican Brief" is may be not to everyone's taste, but I personally like it.It's a nice movie and the 2-hours hold your attention easily.
